The anti-torsion cable makes the connection between the two elements of a flying sail furler: the drum and the top-swivel. Anti-torsion ropes usually can't be spliced. They have to be sewn, wedged or adjusted with clamps. All those clamps have been only designed for top down furler anti torsion loads.
