In the auto mode of the ratchet mechanism engages when load is applied, but switches off when it's released. This lets the sheet run out smoothly and freely-great for rapid easing of the sheet and for gybing asymmetric spinnakers. In manual mode, the ratchet mechanism can be switched on or off as required. Quite simply, Ronstan Ratchet Orbit Blocks™ have the highest holding power available. The sophisticated NC-machined sheave features Generation 2 of our patented sheave cross-hole geometry. It's holding power is up to 21:1, almost double that of their nearest competitior. The unique sheave design has 12 gripping faces which directly resist loaded line movement. Traditional designs have only 8 faces with an angled resistance to line movement.

The Generation 2 design has straight resistance faces which both distribute the load and minimise rope wear. These faces are offset from the radial line, to draw the rope down into the gripping area when under load.

XHL Bearings - Twin rows of stainless steel ball bearings running on a stainless steel axle with the addition of a protective plain bearing washer. A key feature within the XHL bearing system is the precision plain bearing washer. When the XHL is exposed to extreme static loads (which would normally cause damage to the internal bearing system) it changes to a plain bearing block. This stops the ball bearings from getting damaged and thus no longer performing as designed. As soon as the static load is reduced the XHL returns to a high performing dynamic block.

Body - The aluminium body features “ears” at the top of the block. These are to be used when attaching the block and stop the block from capsizing when under load.

Sheave - The stainless steel sheave allows the block to be paired with both rope and wire.

Becket - Nicely radiused to allow for a 5mm rope to be tied in the centre of the block. Allows for an even pull and increased purchase system.

The new lightweight Titanium sheave includes Allen's specially devised V profile, optimised for the fast running of rope without weakening the working load of the line. The V profile additionally allows smaller Dyneema or wire lines to be paired with the TiiTAN block, whilst retaining the friction reduction benefits of a larger sheave diameter.

The TiiTAN bearing system is one of a kind. Featuring twin rows of ceramic ball bearings running on a stainless-steel axle gives the titanium sheave unmatched rolling speeds. Ceramic ball bearings also offer the added benefit of reduced friction in salt water, when compared to stainless steel bearings.

A key feature within the TiiTAN bearing system is the precision plain bearing washer. When the TiiTAN is exposed to extreme static loads, which would normally cause damage to the internal bearing system, it changes to a plain bearing block. Stopping the ball bearings from getting damaged and thus no longer performing as designed. As soon as the static load is reduced the TiiTAN returns to a high-performing dynamic block.

The load at which this change happens has undergone meticulous testing and development to ensure the block stays in dynamic mode for as long as possible.

Aluminium side cheeks hold the TiiTAN together and offer a much stronger and longer-lasting body that holds its shape under extreme loads. These side cheeks feature a chamfered rope guide to keep the block in the correct orientation as well as two lashing line holes. We recommend using thin whipping twine or kite line to lash the attachment rope in place.

The TiiTAN block is perfect for use across a wide range of watercraft, including high-performance dinghies, foiling dinghies, sports boats and grand prix yachts.
